Sam Raimi’s The Dead Is Coming to Drive-In Theaters Starting This Weekend

For horror fans who enjoy the theatrical experience, the Evil Dead are coming to the cinema this summer. The news was announced by Grindhouse Releasing, which will tour the country this weekend with the 1981 classics of Sam Reimi.

Posted on Facebook, Grindhouse releasing the Malicious Dead said it will make its first stop at the Drive-in at Pride Corner in Westbrook, Maine this weekend. This is the same company that toured the United States last year during the recent restoration of 4K. At the time of writing this article it has not yet been determined whether the 4K version will be played at the selected locations. That’s what the company should have said on Facebook.

POWERFUL: Evil Dead 4 Director, name and production plans Confirmed by Bruce Campbell
We are returning the original Evil Dead to the Drive-In! Spread out, one. The broadcast is provided by Sat. nite 6/13 Prides Corner Drive-In, Westbrook ME. Let your local reader know you want to see it, more dates coming soon!

This happened right after star Bruce Campbell revealed that Lee Cronin was now directing a new franchise film with director Lee Cronin called Evil Dead. But Campbell won’t repeat his role as Ash Williams because he won’t let go. The actor resigned after the role of As against Evil Death was cancelled. On Twitter Campbell announced the upcoming shows with the following words

Most theatres in the country and around the world have been closed since mid-March. Although some theatres are starting to reopen, they have a reduced capacity and are far from back to normal. In recent months, cinema visits have become a paradise for film lovers. New horror films such as The Wretched were successful at the time, but the cinemas are still very successful and present a collection of old classics.

The Evil Dead is Sam Raimey’s first feature film. She focuses on Ash, who drives his girlfriend and three friends to a remote cabin in the woods to spend a night away from home, which should be fun. Once there they come across the Necronomicon, an old book whose text wakes up the dead when they read it. The group unintentionally lets go of the evil in the book and is forced to fight for his life.

The film, produced with the shoe’s budget, was a success and has achieved iconic status over the years. Two sequels were released – Evil Dead 2 and Army of Darkness – and a remake in 2013. Although the remake actually takes place in the same universe as the original and has been described as a side event. Other dates and locations will appear as soon as they are available. In the meantime, you can view the announcement on the Grindhouse Releasing Facebook page.
